In her day-to-day work, Cat undertakes Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) for government and private clients and undertakes technical peer reviews through the resource consent process. Cat has provided technical advice and expert witness evidence on behalf of private and public clients for marine ecology and avifauna through the resource management hearing process and the Environment Court.
Bio: Cat is a marine ecologist and coastal scientist with 13 years working in the field of marine science and coastal management. She has worked in a range of industries including finfish aquaculture, education, stormwater engineering and environmental consulting.

Cat’s specialist interest areas for ecology avoiding effects of coastal development, marinas and ports as well as dredging on marine habitats including shellfish beds, seagrass, mangroves and rocky reefs. Cat has experience in coastal bird surveys and management with a focus on little penguin/kororā. Cat has experience in coastal hazard assessments including climate change effects of sea level rise as well as catchment and coastal flood management and shoreline management. Her skills and experience have been recognised by her certification as a General Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) with the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ).
