Conference 2023 Announcement 4

NZCS Conference 2023

Kia ora,

You will probably be aware by now that flying into Wellington today has been problematic. The NZCS committee are also stranded at their home bases and are frantically working on a solution as we really want to continue to host a successful conference.

Important Change to Wednesday 22 November Schedule:
At this stage we are likely to reschedule the first morning of talks to Friday morning as the weather that day is unlikely to allow for the boat field trip.

As such we are hoping to open the conference at 12pm tomorrow, Wednesday 22 November.

Networking Event Update - Thistle Inn, 6pm Tonight (Tuesday 21 November):
Tonight's Networking event, held at the Thistle in scheduled for 6pm will still be going ahead for those of you who are able to join. We look forward to seeing you there.

Please watch this space - as we will provide updates as soon as we can. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding!

For any queries regarding changes please email Amy Robinson

Ngā mihi,
Amy Robinson (NZCS co-Chair)

Thank you all - we hope to see you in Wellington!

Welcome to the 2023 New Zealand Coastal Society Conference in Wellington!

The New Zealand Coastal Society Conference is your annual opportunity to share knowledge across a range of coastal management topics and meet with peers from around New Zealand.

The 2023 conference theme "The Winds (and Waves) of Change" is intended to spark discussion around forthcoming changes in coastal management across in New Zealand, both currently and in the future. With Wellington being home to central government we can expect many of the changes in terms of our response mechanisms and legislative guidance to coastal management issues to be directed from the windy city.

The Wellington region holds examples of both the future direction of coastal management and the challenges of implementing change. The 2023 New Zealand Coastal Society Conference presents us with an opportunity to discuss the lessons learnt and contemplate the changes and challenges in front of us from work being undertaken around the country.

Our conference is being held at the Rydges Hotel in the heart of Wellington's CBD.

Call for Abstracts - EXTENDED! 20 October 2023
