Biodiversity offseting and compensation in the marine environment

We read with interest Tommaso Alestra and Jacqui Bell's article on biodiversity offsetting and compensation in the marine environment in the November issue of the Coastal News. Alestra and Bell touched on a number of important points relevant to the increasing pressure of development on coastal marine ecosystems in New Zealand. We have three reflections we'd like to add to theirs from a regional council officer's perspective.
