CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The New Zealand Coastal Society invite you to share your knowledge, stories and love of the coastal and marine environment at this year’s conference located in Ōtepoti Dunedin.
Thank you for taking the time to submit an Abstract for the upcoming NZCS Conference 2026.
Key Dates:
- Call for Abstracts open: 1 June 2026
- Abstracts close: 19 July 2026
- Candidates will be advised outcome by: 14 August 2026
2026 Conference Themes:
- Coastal Science and Hazards
- Monitoring techniques and programs
- Resilience, People & Mātauranga Māori (indigenous knowledge)
- Marine Science & Coastal Ecosystems
- Ports and Infrastructures
- Coastal data management and processing
- Pacific Outreach – Case studies
*Please consider a maximum of three themes your abstract may be applicable to.
Abstract Guidelines:
Presentation Options:
- Select a presentation that is either: Oral or Poster
- Students: Please select ‘yes’ if the presenting author is a student.
Abstract Content:
- Please fill out the abstract template provided and attached to the form submission
- Use APA 7th referencing
- Include all authors credited for the Abstract
- Include a short Bio for each presenter *No more than 200 words
- There is a one-page limit for the Abstract using the formatting provided in the template
- No figures to be included

Conference Registrations:
- All confirmed presenters will need to register for the conference
- Registrations will open 14 May 2026
Important Notes:
- Preparation and supply of any handouts or materials used in presentations is the responsibility of the authors.
- As a commitment to attend and support the NZCS Conference, accepted presenters are expected to register and pay for attending the conference.
- All costs to attend the conference, including the registration fee, must be met by presenters.
